He Was Born To Die For You (25 Pack)
[AT-012-C_25]

Have you ever wondered why the Lord Jesus was born into this world?

We read in the Bible of the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ, God’s Son. His birth was different from any other - “a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son” (Matthew 1v23). The angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and told her about the baby she would conceive, “the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God” (Luke 1v35). He told Mary that “He shall be great” and to “call His name JESUS” (Luke 1v31).

Joseph was also told in a dream that Mary would have a son and “thou shalt call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1v21).

Why did God send His Son to earth?

The simple yet profound reason given is, “the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world” (1 John 4v14). Since God sent Him to be our saviour, it must be that we need a saviour.

The reason why we need a saviour is that we all have sinned and fallen short of God’s standards, because we all, without exception, have a sinful nature. “Wherefore, as by one man (Adam) sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned” (Romans 5v12). Therefore because God is holy and Heaven is a pure place, we need to have our sins forgiven before we can be in Heaven.

The Lord Jesus was born into this world without any sin, He lived a sinless life, and went to the cross at Calvary to die for our sins. “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God” (1 Peter 3v18). He came to bear the punishment for our sins because God is holy and so sin must be punished, not overlooked.

“God commendeth His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5v8).

“The Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all” (Isaiah 53v6).

“Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree” (1 Peter 2v24).

What have we to do?

All God asks us to do is to accept our need of having our sins forgiven, and believe that the Lord Jesus has died for our sins and has borne the punishment on the cross in place of us. God says this is all we need. Then we will be sure of Heaven.

“To Him give all the prophets witness, that through His name whosoever believeth in Him shall receive remission of sins” (Acts 10v43).

“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him” (John 3v36).

However, the alternative to everlasting life was spoken of by the Lord Jesus Himself. After having explained why His Father had sent Him to be their saviour, “He said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am He, ye shall die in your sins” (John 8v23&24).
